Garden District

Arguably one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the United States, the Garden District offers a wide range of majestic homes that don’t disappoint. Dating back to the 1900s, this neighborhood includes blocks of stately Victorian and Queen Anne style mansions. On an average day in this neighborhood, you may spy actors Sandra Bullock or John Goodman walking down the street since so many celebrities like to call the Garden District home when filming a movie in town. The Garden District is located right off the St. Charles streetcar line and near Magazine Street’s 6-mile shopping strip. This exclusive area is one of the pricier neighborhoods in New Orleans, but the neighborhood’s historical status, manicured gardens and historical homes warrant the price tag. The Garden District also includes one of New Orleans’ most famous restaurants, Commander’s Palace, as well as Lafayette Cemetery #1 that houses over 1100 above ground tombs. Most days of the week, you’ll spy tour guides educating walking groups about the Garden District’s former residents and unique architectural styles.
